Bank Transfer Day began as a simple directive each citizen could independently act upon created, organized and lead completely by social media. Within weeks, the original Facebook event had more than 85,000 âAttendingâ RSVPs, 60,000 âlikesâ on the official Facebook page and over 3,000 Twitter followers. CUNA attributed nearly half a million new credit union accounts in October and November to this movement. Solely responsible for all social media creation & moderation, design of marketing materials, response to feedback of 500 supporters or opponents per day, interview with major media on-camera (CNN, KTLA, Dan Rather Reports, Fox Business, ABC World News with Diane Sawyer), for radio (American Public Media, National Public Radio, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) and publication (Village Voice, ABC, CNBC, CNN, Seoul Daily, LA Times) both nationwide and abroad.
